CFA brigades are always ready to tackle fires and emergencies. And they are also lending a hand to battle the drought.
CFA’s North West Area is providing support to drought-affected families in the region by organising get togethers and community events in an effort to build community wellbeing and support.
Rural communities are struggling from lack of rain, dry dams and the emotional consequences that flow from such tough conditions. CFA relies upon community members, and the drought is having a significant impact on these volunteers and the communities they protect.
Partnering with the Community Enterprise™ Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Bendigo Bank, CFA will be able to provide more support to the community members thanks to a donation of $5,000 from the Rural Pay Back Time Appeal.
Food hampers and toiletry packs are also being produced to aid the area's needy families, but current supply may not meet demand. Communities and individuals are encouraged to actively lend a hand by organising fundraising events like barbeques, or purchasing school books for disadvantaged children.
CFA is identifying areas hardest hit by drought through its relationships with members on the land. Community Enterprise™ Foundation will administer donations, ensuring money is allocated to areas of greatest need.
Cash donations can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
