Name: Annie Heritage
Position title: Brigade Support Officer, Golden Plains Catchment, Barwon Corangamite, Region 7
When did you join CFA? Just over 5 years ago
Special others: Partner Brett and cats Harry and Charlie (Harold and Charles when they’re in trouble)
Favourite movie and why: The Saw, Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV movies. The guys who wrote those movies have the most deranged minds but the story lines are awesome and certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.
Most exciting moment: Definitely sky diving. I’ve now done it twice and the adrenaline rush you get is beyond description.
Your favourite journey: In 2000, I backpacked around Europe, and Venice would have to be my favourite place in the world. The history, culture and architecture there is amazing.
I wish I was still a child because: everything was so much cheaper and you didn’t have to justify your actions. All you had to do was put on a cute smile, get the puppy dog eyes going and you could get away with anything. I try this tactic now but it doesn’t work!
The best thing about living in: Geelong is I have all of my friends around me (and, of course, at the moment barracking for the Cats is a bonus). Brett and I are about to move down to the Otways and are in the process of building our dream house. It’s only an hour away from Geelong so I can still make weekend trips to Geelong to see friends.
If I win Lotto I will: attempt to save all the neglected animals around the world and give them a life they deserve. I have been to countries where it breaks my heart to see all the neglected dogs and cats.
If I had to choose another career I would be: an Air Traffic Controller because I love planes and thrive on a job that offers both a challenge and some degree of excitement.
My life’s motto is: live for today because you never know if you’ll make it to tomorrow.
