The Stuart Taylor Memorial Award, presented for the “Best Performance of the Games”, was awarded to CFA Volunteer Firefighter Colin Silcock-Delaney for his enthusiasm and willingness to be involved in the Games and his excellence in the field of athletics, in particular running the marathon. Colin accepted the award with a short but notable acceptance speech.

The Bob Degg Volunteer Award was established to recognise the outstanding efforts and achievements of volunteer officials, sports co-ordinators and representatives helping to conduct the Games. The inaugural winner of this award was Brian Neal, CFA’s Games representative and Sports Co-ordinator for Beach Volleyball. Brian accepted the award and thanked all the volunteers for their contribution to the success of the Games.

The Inter-Services Trophy was won this year by Vic Roads Transport Safety Services and the Chief Commissioner’s Trophy was awarded to the Traffic and Transport Department Victoria Police.

Ms Cathy Freeman, following an interview by Steve Moneghetti, thanked the Games Federation for its support of the Cathy Freeman Foundation and described some of the goals the Foundation hoped to achieve.

Sincere congratulations to both Colin and Brian on their well deserved awards!
