The Region 13 rope rescue team and Monbulk brigade were called to a motorcyclist who’d fallen around seven metres down an embankment at Monbulk on Monday, 24 March.
The call went in to Emerald brigade at 4.21pm, with a report of a washway as the result of an accident on Emerald-Monbulk Rd. Further information about the motorcyclist’s position came from Vicfire, and the Monbulk-based rope rescue technicians were called in.
Victoria Police was the Incident Controller, but Monbulk Captain Peter Edyvane was in charge of CFA’s operations during the incident, along with Rope Rescue Commander Daryl Owen.
For CFA, 10 firefighters and five rope rescue personnel attended. Three police officers and four paramedics were also on scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, rope rescue personnel found a motorcyclist had fallen down the vegetation-covered embankment after losing control of the motorbike.
The motorcyclist had multiple injuries, including a suspected broken collar-bone, ribs, possible spinal injuries and lacerations.
The paramedics stabilised the patient before the Region 13 rope rescue operators were able to get her into a stretcher and lift her up the embankment.
