As part of RACV’s effort to better manage its continuing support of charities and worthwhile community causes, the RACV Community Foundation was established in July 1997.
The RACV Community Foundation has provided 19 individual grants to CFA brigades since its inception. So far, the grants have been worth $74,775.
Last year, the Hamilton Urban Fire Brigade, Merri Fire Brigades Group, Morven Fire Brigade and Wickliffe Rural Fire Brigade each received grants totalling $21,194.
As part of this initiative, RACV has distributed over $1.2 million to more than 280 communities served by RACV.
Emergency Services are a priority area in proposals for grants to community and charitable organisations. RACV recognises they play an essential role in protecting Victorian communities in crisis situations.
Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in September 2008 and May 2009. As the RACV Community Foundation Grant Guidelines 2008/2009 stipulate, "the Foundation will support programs, activities and small equipment purchases that will support emergency service organisations to operate more effectively and/or improve safety."
The deadline for applications for the September 2008 Grant Round is Friday 15 August 2008.
The deadline for applications for the May 2009 Grant Round is Thursday 9 April 2009.
Please note this year's deadline is very strict and late applications will not be considered.
If you would like to apply for a grant from the RACV Foundation further details of the application process, and a copy of Grant Application 2008/09 Cover Sheet are available for download here (197kb).

Just over 2 weeks to apply? Check fundraising policy/procedures - brigade meeting approval required; application required to be submitted to Area Office 6 weeks beforehand; Area Office approval required, etc etc. Why no mention of that in the article??? Is public affairs suggesting that brigades ignore policy/procedures?
Hi Anonymous
Although the August date is only two weeks away, we included both dates in the article to ensure all relevant information was covered. We expect the April grants will be the focus of most Fire Flyer readers interested in applying. Cheers. Fire Flyer.
