First involved in 2004 – this is the fifth consecutive year CFA has proudly supported the Victorian Winter Blanket Appeal (VWBA).
The VWBA was launched at ABC Radio Studios in Southbank on Wednesday 18th June. CFA Executive Manager Public Affairs Robert Hogan (pictured right) spoke on behalf of CFA about the importance of the appeal and how it brings many community minded organisations together for a common cause.
"CFA believes strongly in programs like the Winter Blanket Appeal, which strengthen communities and benefit those most in need," Robert said.
"Like CFA, the appeal brings a number of organisations together and has a proud history of serving the Victorian community."
CFA is supporting the appeal together with fellow community partners VicRelief Foodbank, The Country Women’s Association, Salvation Army, The Lord Mayor’s charitable fund and Metropolitan Fire Brigade.
774 ABC Radio and ABC Local Radio are major supporters of the VWBA, promoting the appeal via metro and regional radio.
CFA is assisting the appeal by providing collection points at most integrated stations (staff and volunteer) and regional headquarters for the public to donate new blankets, beanies scarves and gloves. Promotional posters will be displayed at these locations
and promoted on the public website and internally.
This year's appeal aims to raise 20,000 blankets and will run for approximately six weeks – ending on July 31st 2008. You can help support it too by dropping off your unused blankets.
Visit www.vrandfb.com.au/ for details or check out the full list of donation locations.
Monetary donations can also be made through the winter blanket appeal website.
Let's keep everyone warm this winter!
Cold enough for you?
