2009 ANZAC of the Year Awards

Simpson and his donkeyNominations now open for 2009 ANZAC of the Year Awards

The Victorian Committee for the ANZAC Awards is calling for nominations for the 2009 ANZAC of the Year Awards.

In its desire to honour those who serve in peace as well as perpetuating the memory and gallantry of those who served in war, the Returned & Services League of Australia has established a series of National Honours - the ANZAC Awards.

The ANZAC Awards consist of:

  • the ANZAC Peace Prize, only one of which is awarded to an Australian individual or group for outstanding efforts in promoting international understanding and peace and
  • the ANZAC of the Year Awards, seven of which may be awarded each year to Australian individuals or groups for service to the community in a positive, compassionate and selfless manner.
These awards are designed so that those men and women among us in the wider community can be honoured and recognised at a national level.

These awards are for any deserving person in the community – young or old – ex-service or not.

For more information, go to the
RSL website.

Nominations close 16 JANUARY, 2009.
Winners will be announced just prior to ANZAC Day, 25 April 2009.
