National Tree Day is an annual event held on the last Sunday of July each year. It's Australia's biggest community tree-planting event – a day when all Australians can help out by planting native trees and shrubs in their local area.

Tree planting provides an opportunity for community groups, businesses, schools and local residents to come together and make a positive difference to our environment.

This year, staff at the Barwon/Corangamite Area HQ participated in National Tree Day by planting a row of six native gum trees in the lawn area at the HQ. Each of the Area’s departments planted their own tree.
These trees will provide food and shelter for wildlife, increase native biodiversity and help combat habitat loss.

Barwon/Corangamite staff members look forward to watching their trees grow and, albeit in a small way, off-set some of their carbon footprint.
