A worker in his early 40s was seen stuck in a tree on the Beacon Hills Golf Club, Beaconsfield Upper, at around 11:20am on Monday 3 November 2008.
The man was believed to be lopping a large branch from a tree when the branch he was secured to fell early, leaving him wedged between the main trunk of the tree and the remains of the branch he was removing.
The tree was located on a seventh degree elevation on the mid-point of a slight hill on the 14th fairway of the golf course.
CFA, SES and MAS members responded to the rescue. It began to rain lightly with a forceful wind, which made trying to position CFA Dandenong’s Hydraulic Platform a difficult task as the ground beneath the truck was damp and unstable.
The man was freed about one-and-a-half hours of the incident occurring. He received further paramedic attention on the ground, before being flown to hospital in a stable condition.
