Stevensons Road closed landfill update - 31 October 2008

In brief:

  • Risk to residents living within Stevensons Road landfill area in Cranbourne has been reduced.
  • CFA Chief Officer Russell Rees to hold media conference today at 10.30am
  • Brookland Greens event will transition back to a land management issue under the City of Casey, and overseen by a committee chaired by DSE

A CFA media release issued at 8am this morning advised that the risk to residents living within the area of Stevensons Road closed landfill in Cranbourne has now been reduced, due to the various mitigation works put in place since mid-September.

Residents were notified yesterday of this change. Street meetings will be held within the Brookland Greens Estate this evening, for residents who would like more information.

CFA Chief Officer Russell Rees will also hold a media conference today, Friday 31 October at 10:30am. The media conference will be held at the reserve on the corner of Cherryhills Drive and Huntingdale Close, Cranbourne (Melway ref: 133 E5.)
