Sunday 21 December 2008 saw the Melton Fire Brigade stow its brand new Road Rescue appliance.

With help from members of the Equipment Maintenance Committee of the brigade, all gear was changed over from the old appliance, to the new state-of-the-art rescue truck that morning.

The truck will be in commission until it is certifiably weighed - this had been scheduled for the following day. In the meantime, the State Spare Heavy Rescue is in its place.

The Scania Heavy Rescue replaces a 1995 Isuzu that will be going to the Monbulk Fire Brigade once it gets fitted to the brigade's specifcations.

For anyone interested, the new Melton Rescue went online as of 1700hrs on the 23rd of December

At 2008hrs, Melton received a page for an MVA. First time it has been used in anger.

Glad to see units are being replaced as per their age. Certain brigades with Rescues 5-6 years older than Melton keep getting put on the back burner, while these brigades get the new trucks.
