CFA, VIC SES and the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) joined forces in a group training session to prepare for the upcoming fire season.
The Mount Cottrell Group of Fire Brigades, located in Region 14, conducted their annual group exercise at Macpherson Park in Melton last month.
Brigades from Toolern Vale, Caroline Springs, Melton, Diggers Rest, Rockbank, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Truganina and Point Cook took part in exercises like off-road driving, chainsaw use, mobile command vehicle operations, crew protection on the 3.4C tanker, quick fill and portable dam set-up, and pumping. VIC SES showed their new rescue vehicle, while DSE brought their slip-on.
CFA Health Support Officer Peter Langridge and the Health Support team were on-hand to provide safety advice on the staging areas where the group exercises were conducted. They also provided information to members on their health and wellbeing, like how to monitor blood pressure and carbon monoxide levels.
Melton Fire Brigade put on a great lunch for all involved.
