Royal Commission update

A message from the CFA 2009 Fires Task Force

The second week of the Royal Commission community consultation meetings is now coming to a close. To date, the Commissioners have visited Myrtleford, Flowerdale, Kinglake, Kinglake West, Bendigo and Wandong. The Commissioners have focussed on community consultation. Hearings are scheduled to commence mid-May.

It is important to remember that, while the Royal Commission is a high profile aspect of our current business, much of the organisation is also in recovery mode. This includes supporting the program of rehabilitating damage caused by firefighting operations, providing support to CFA personnel who have been impacted by the fires, debriefs, and trying to take some precious ‘time out’.

Equally important, daily operations continue and, as always, our people are responding to incidents right across the state. It should also be noted that the ICC in the North East is still fully functional every day. All being said, this amounts to an enormous amount of work.

The Board, CEO, Chief Officer and entire management team appreciates and acknowledges your ongoing commitment and thanks you for your efforts in maintaining our core business as the Royal Commission continues.

We will keep you updated as new information arises.
