The Ballarat City Fire brigade, formerly the Ballarat West Volunteer Fire Brigade, is this year celebrating its 150th anniversary.
The City of Ballarat held its first meeting on 26 April 1859. The brigade has been an icon for the city of Ballarat, having proudly served citizens since its inception. To celebrate its 150th anniversary, the brigade has organised a series of events:
26 April 2009 – a dinner meeting for members.
31 October 2009 – a private dinner at Ballarat Lodge for past/present members and invited guests.
1 November 2009 – a public Open Day to be held at Ballarat City Fire Station.
(see a report on last year's Open Day)
For these celebrations to reach their potential, Ballarat City brigade needs your help!
A collection process has begun, and the brigade is accepting the donation of any personal belongings that will help make the anniversary even more special for members, ex-members and citizens.
The brigade needs:
- Postal address and contact phone numbers for all ex-members
- Ballarat City memorabilia
- Any photos featuring the Ballarat City Fire Brigade
- Any other information or documentation involving the Ballarat City Fire Brigade
Any items would be gratefully received, looked after and returned after the celebrations.
