Healthy for Life program winner

Peter McCallumCORP Health is an external organisation employed by CFA to make regular visits to stations and monitor the general health and wellbeing of our firefighters on a voluntary basis. Interested participants get the opportunity to discuss any health issues and set achievable fitness goals.

Peter McCallum, a career firefighter at Belmont Fire Station, w
as recently awarded a $200 Flight Centre voucher by CORP Health in acknowledgement of his strong support of and advocacy for the program.

“Th
e representatives come about four times a year and I look forward to the visits,” says Peter. “I try to live a healthy life so the program is ideal for me. I’ve been involved since it started up about four years ago when they first talked about my fitness goals with me and we drew up an exercise chart.

“The program is something I can follow during the down-time on station. We have a good range of gym equipment here but a lot of the exercises don’t require any special equipment. There are so many benefits to me and to CFA. It means I can do my job in a healthier state; it gives me something extra I can use as a work tool.”

Congratulations to Peter on his excellent health and fitness achievements and for being an inspiration to many people on station.
