Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) bring together researchers from universities, CSIRO and other government organisations, and private industry or public sector agencies.
Now in the fourth year of a seven year program, Bushfire CRC has implemented new decision support tools in areas including smoke management, aerial suppression, prescribed burning and fire weather forecasting.
The Bushfire CRC helps fire and land agencies gain an insight into the way people face the bushfire threat.
The Bushfire CRC has just released two new updates:
- Fire Note - Bushfire community eduction programs
- How well do they work and how best to allocate community safety resources
- Fire Update - Fighting fires from the air in season 2007-08
- The Aerial Suppression Research team is planning for an active summer on the fireground
