Transcript of CEO's Christmas message
Well, it’s the end of another year.
It’s come around very, very quickly and we’re moving into the festive season. It’s an opportunity that I’m taking now to thank everyone in CFA for an absolutely fantastic job for the year.
We started off this year with fires, we’ve gone through floods, we’ve had an Inquiry, we’ve had a number of Inquiries actually, but we’ve also had a large number of successes and I think it’s something that we should do, and we should sit back now and think about those things that we’ve succeeded in and celebrate them.
Too often when we achieve good things we just get on with the next bit of work. It’s time that we sat back and acknowledged the fact that we’re doing some good things out there - our building program, our truck program. All of the regional offices are doing marvellous jobs with our volunteers. And I think that we should look on this year as a year of success.
Moving into the fire season, please look after yourselves. If you’re a volunteer, it’s family, it’s work and then it’s the fire service. If you’re a career person I want you also to think about your work/life balance to make sure that you’re fresh and able to make decisions in the appropriate times in the appropriate manner.
Look after yourselves, have a great Christmas, have a safe Christmas and I’ll see you in the New Year.
