CFA/RACV partnership

The CFA and RACV Insurance partnership continues to grow with both organisations working together to help Victorians protect their homes and families from fire.

Recent projects include :

  • an educational DVD;
  • joint media releases and advertising; and
  • a strong presence in RACV VicRoads Country Street Directory of Victoria.
These projects complement existing CFA and RACV Insurance projects including the RACV Caravan and the Fire Awareness Awards.

The DVD, Living on the Edge, provides residents with easy to follow practical advice on how to make a bushfire safety plan. It will soon be delivered to over 100,000 households in urban-rural interface areas around Melbourne and provincial cities.

Over the past few months CFA and RACV Insurance have collaborated on a media campaign. Advertising was placed and media releases sent to newspapers in high risk areas like the Dandenongs, urban-rural interface areas, coastal fringes and central grasslands. They provided important advice on preparing properties for the bushfire season. The advertisements also ran in the rural version of the Sunday Herald Sun.

A strong CFA advertising presence in the sixth edition of RACV VicRoads Country Street Directory conveyed key targeted messages about bushfire safety to people visiting regional Victoria.

The RACV CFA Caravan has continued to play a vital role in promoting fire safety and educating the public about reducing the risk of bushfire and fire in the home.
The caravan remains a strong representation of RACV Insurance's ongoing support of CFA, providing a strong presence for CFA and RACV in the Barwon Corangamite area. Tens of thousands of educational publications are distributed through the caravan each year and caravan staff provide people with direct and specific advice.

Again in 2007, RACV Insurance was a very strong supporter of the Fire Awareness Awards. The Awards, held at the RACV Club in Melbourne in October, recognise the success of fire safety initiatives by individuals, fire agencies, groups and organisations.

RACV was also a key sponsor of the CFA Family Day at Rochford Wines in October.
