The Corinella Rural Fire Brigade celebrated its 30th birthday with an open day and BBQ at the station on Sunday 30 November 2008. The Corinella brigade protects the communities of Corinella, Coronet Bay and Temby Point. Located on the edge of Westernport Bay, these communities were once sleepy fishing towns that have, over the last 10 years, experienced significant population growth and increasing land values, a result of the seachange pheonomon.

Past and present members, together with locals and representatives of neighbouring brigades enjoyed the sunshine and hospitality of Captain Sue Ellis and her team at Corinella.

The brigade had displays of its current equipment and tanker as well as historic photos for everyone to enjoy. A highlight of the day was a visit from Captain Koala who was a hit with both the kids and the adults - he even got a special gift from a grateful young girl who brought him a fresh branch of eucalyptus leaves!

Everyone in attendance enjoyed a special chocolate birthday cake and wished the members of Corinella brigade all the best for the next 30 years.
