| Wildfire Victoria roadsign |
Along with this service, CFA works closely with Wildlife Victoria’s Fire Season Preparation and Response Co-Ordinator to ensure that our wildlife is also helped in the case of bushfires.
Telstra has advised of the imminent closure of the ‘0500’ telephone number. This means a massive roll out of new road signs to inform the community. These signs are located on the side of main highways and entering areas where there may be a high presence of wildlife. The signs advise the public to call the 0500 number in an emergency.
Wildlife Victoria is asking people to provide information on the location of all its roadside signs. This will help Wildlife Victoria maintain a list of its current signs for future planning and auditing of roadside signage.
If you are able to help, please email CFA's Fiona Mallia at Region 14: f.mallia@cfa.vic.gov.au
When advising of the sign location, please ensure that it is a Wildlife Victoria sign with the 0500 540 000 number attached, as there are other Wildlife organisations with their number attached also. Also, it would be helpful if you could provide the name of the road, suburb, post code and nearest main town or main road to locate the signs.
As this needs to be addressed promptly, it would be terrific if you could email Fiona by early March.
Thanks for your support CFA!
