A thousand CFA members will be in Swan Hill this weekend for the 125th State Urban Senior Championships.
Seventy-two teams are taking part in the state championships, which help increase and maintain a level of physical fitness for the competitors and improve skills in handling basic firefighting equipment.
The majority of competitors are from CFA fire brigades from across Victoria. Five interstate teams – from New South Wales and Western Australia - are also taking part in the championships, highlighting links between the states, and co-operation and camaraderie between fire services.
The State Urban Senior Championships are organised by a 14-member committee drawn from the Swan Hill Fire Brigade and Swan Hill Rural Council, which has been meeting for more than two years to organise the event.
There will also be plenty of displays showcasing the varied work CFA does around the state.
To keep track of the scores over the weekend, check out the CFA website's news section.
