CFA running for the kids

Is it a car, is it a truck? No, it will be team CFA Narre Warren running through the Domain Tunnel and across the Bolte Bridge for this year's Herald Sun/Citylink Run for the Kids!

Narre Warren CFA's Second Lieutenant Travis Carter and Firefighter Damien Baker organised a team for the 14.14km event on March 30 to raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal. They will run with up to 30,000 other participants, from top athletes to mums and dads with prams in Victoria's iconic fun run.

“Damien has been trying to convince me for a while to do a long distance run with him so we signed up to Run for the Kids. Within two weeks we managed to talk 12 more CFA members into joining our team,” Narre Warren brigade member Travis Carter said.

The entry fee for the 2008 event is $35 for the long course ($21 to the appeal) and $30 for the short course ($16 to the appeal).

“The team is made up of 14 participants with only a couple of us seasoned, fit runners. We will need lots of encouragement to go out and get fit for the run, and nothing is more encouraging than seeing our tally go up,” Travis said.
