On the 9th of March the Geelong City brigade assisted the Geelong Australian Volunteer Coast Guard after Region 7 requested help to locate a radio antenna onto an existing mast.
The task involved reaching the mast over a building that would have been out of reach of a ladder.
With the Coast Guard brigade formation occurring there was an opportunity to help the Coast Guard and develop the relationship between our crews.
The Simon Hydraulic Platform from Geelong City was used to provide safe access to the mast for Coast Guard and CFA personnel so that the antenna could be located and aligned, thus giving the Coast Guard added flexibility in providing services to the public.
LFF’s Mal Stepnell and Chris Wallace provided the technical access and assistance in fixing the antenna to the mast.
The Coast Guard personnel were most appreciative of the effort provided from Geelong City members and look forward to working with them again in the future.
It is partnerships like this that strengthen the relationships of all personnel to better function when an emergency arises.
