CFA HQ is part of a team (the 'Tally Ho Hub') that won two awards at the 2008 City of Whitehorse Sustainability Awards for leadership in sustainability.
The 'Sustainable Business Award', won by The Hub, recognises those businesses that go beyond regulatory requirements and demonstrate leadership in sustainability. The criteria
were as follows:
- Environmental consciousness in operations, for example use of renewable resources, energy or water conservation;
- Product or service innovations that enhance the environment;
- Pollution prevention or waste minimisation;
- Community outreach; and
- Other initiatives or activities that enhance the environment or lead by example
The Tally Ho Hub also took out the 'Overall Sustainability' award.
The Hub was established around three years ago with the aim of bringing together local businesses to support each other in improving our organisations' sustainability performance.
The Hub meets four to five times a year to exchange ideas and experiences, and has been very useful in supporting CFA's endeavours. We have also been able to help other organisations locally through sharing our experiences (including about our Executive engagement activities and how we went about setting up the Green Office Program).
The Hub is linked with the Resource Smart Program (formerly Waste Wise Program). CFA is a founding member and other organisations involved include World Vision, RSPCA, VicRoads, Agilent, HP, and Fastwire.
