Victorian Treasurer John Lenders last week handed down the Brumby Government's State Budget.
In dollar-terms, CFA’s most significant benefit is a radio replacement program, with $56.8 million being spent to replace more than 10,400 emergency hand-held and vehicle radios over the next four years.
CFA will also receive $20.4 million over the next four years to fund technical rescue vehicles and new trucks with hydraulic platform ladders in regional Victoria, and to provide essential maintenance and support for the vehicles.
The Government has also committed $450,000 to the Victorian Rural Fire Brigades Association next financial year to establish a welfare fund for rural CFA members.
CFA CEO Neil Bibby said the Government has delivered a significant boost to CFA’s resources, consistent with its ongoing commitment to Victoria’s emergency services.
"I look forward to watching the projects unfold over the coming years as CFA continues to support our communities," Mr Bibby said.

I think you'll find the VRFBA Welfare Fund amount is actually $2m. The $450,000 is just the Govt. contribution.
The Allcoation from the Government will allow VFBV to establish a Welfare fund for all CFA volunteers along the lines of the fund currently operated by VUFBA. VFBV has been working with Government on this initiative for more than a year now and the funding is a terrific achievement for VFBV and for all CFA volunteers. The Government funding will allow VFBV to establish a $2.0M Welfare fund. Now that funding has been committed VFBV can complete final implementation issues, we have been working on this already and I I expect the fund will be up and running some time later in 2008. There will will further detail provided on VFBV website and via information to all brigades over the coming months.

Question: What is CFA replacing the current radios with? Digital ones like the police, ambulance and MFB or we just buying more of the current ones and upgrading the system for better coverage?
New platforms for regional Victoria:
When will details of these be release?
This is a great opportunity for CFA to lead the way by actually creating platforms that are water efficient. Unlike current ones that can pump over 4-5000lpm and use a lot of water. Which is not good for anywhere in Victoria, especially regional as we're in a drought.
