Incident report - Wallan Tanker accident

The Wallan Tanker was yesterday involved in a collision with a semi-trailer on the Hume Highway two kilometres south of the turnoff to Clonbinane (10 kms SE of Kilmore).

Clonbinane and Wandong Fire Brigades responded with Kilmore's SES Rescue unit to the scene. Police and Paramedics also attended, and the single occupant of Wallan's tanker was air-lifted to the Alfred Hospital for treatment.

Editor's note (3:20pm 24/04/08): The driver remains in hospital and we will provide further details as we are able.

I hope the driver was okay. Any chance of getting an update on how the driver is doing?

Too much emphasis on a bent truck. What about the driver? No name needed. Probably should mention the Tanker was not responding to a fire call when the crash happened.

All our thoughts to the driver, his family, his brigade and the people who attended. Times like this make you realise what a big family emergency services are.

Who cares if the Appliance was responding to a call or NOT !!

Surely, All that matters is the Wellbeing of the Member, his Family and fellow Brigade Members who have been impacted by this Incident.

It is very fortunate that this tanker did not have a full crew on-board! I was interested to see that the roll-over cage appears to be in-tact, which demonstrates the value of wearing seat belts when on the back of a tanker that is in transit.

Like the previous post, our thoughts go out to the injured member, his family and also to the other emergency services workers who attended.
