Police members Senior Constable Booth and Acting Sargent Walker from the Motor Vehicle Collision Unit presented evidence. CFA Deputy Chief Officer Greg Esnouf also presented evidence to the Coroner.

While the evidence concluded on day three, the matter has been adjourned until a date can be fixed for final submissions.

In the meantime, the Coroner has expressed her preliminary views that seatbelts will be a focus of her recommendations. The Coroner stated she was concerned with the attitude of CFA members towards the use of seatbelts. She expressed that seatbelts have been accepted within the wider community for more than thirty years and CFA must also fully adopt this attitude.

Further details will be provided when the final submission date is set.

The extremely unfortunate death of Capt.Trevor Day has touched the heart and soul of many CFA members and the broader community.
Hopefully after the inquest is over the Day family and their community can recover with some closier.
As always our support, strength and thoughts are with everyone affected.
