CFA helping Northern California firefighting effort

Mark GilmoreCFA Operations Officer Mark Gilmore (right) is part of a 44 person team of Australian and New Zealand firefighters in America to help with the wildfires in Northern California.

Mark’s role is as Division Supervisor (Division Commander). The contingent members traveled to Boise Idaho to the National Interagency Fire Centre (NIFC) for briefing and equipping for the North American fire conditions. From there they were allocated to fires.

The contingent is working 2 x 14 day tours with a rest break in between, before demobilising and returning to Australia about 40 days from departure.
