Change to fire weather service starting 30 October

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has made some changes to its fire weather service for the upcoming season. These changes will be effective 30 October 2008.

These changes apply to the following weather products:

  • Fire Weather Estimates
  • Spot Fire Forecast
  • Fire Weather Briefing
  • Fire Weather Outlook
  • Preliminary Estimates
  • Fire Weather Warning

There is no significant change to the Fire Ban Advice service.

The Fire Weather Directive is currently being updated and will be distributed by November.

In addition, BoM will be operating from the integrated Emergency Coordination Centre (iECC) on a permanent basis during the trial, starting 30 October. BoM staff will be present seven days a week.
