CFA crews from Belmont and Highton attended to reports of smoke issuing from a small brick building in Highton at 1.48am on Sunday 19 October 2008. The crews soon found that they had to deal with more than just the flammable contents of a garage.

A firefighter's attempts to use the closest fire plug unearthed a plug filled with dirt and a bull ant nest - the 'occup-ants' of which did not appreciate the early morning wake-up call.
Thankfully the firefighter was wearing the appropriate PPC/PPE and avoided being bitten by the angry ants.
The small fire was quickly brought under control by crews using BA and a single line of 38. The cause of the fire is still being investigated at the time of publishing.
