Firefighters from Pacific Harbour volunteer fire station visited local schools and communities to convey key messages on fire safety and prevention. Volunteers spoke to villagers about fire awareness and safety, and demonstrated how to use various types of fire extinguishers. They also carried out a door-to-door initiative.

The Pacific Harbour station also hosted Open Day and Family Day events during the week. Visitors at Open Day toured the fire station and looked at the different types of firefighting equipment available. Students from Pacific Harbour Multicultural School got to visit the smokehouse, and a public fire display was also on show.

Family Day was a chance for volunteers and their families to enjoy a day of fun activities and games at the fire station. NFA Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid, formerly of CFA, joined in the day’s festivities, which also included a barbeque.

“The week was a real success and everyone is planning a bigger and better one for next year.” Mark said.
