Wangaratta brigade led the charge in a fundraiser to support Relay for Life. Captained by Leading Firefighter Robert Skase, Team CFA 23 had 50 members consisting of CFA regional staff, station staff, Wangaratta group volunteers and Wangaratta Junior Fire Brigade members. The Wangaratta group volunteers were made up of members from Wangaratta, Killawarra, Oxley Flats and Laceby West brigades.
Team CFA 23 raised money by running a raffle on various items like trailer-loads of wood, wine, a carpet cleaning voucher and a signed Carlton football jumper. Other raffle prizes included accommodation packs donated by various hospitality businesses in the Ballarat, Wangaratta and Milawa area. The team also sold more than $2,500 worth of chocolate bars.
The efforts of Team CFA 23 raised $8658.05 for Relay for Life.
“I would like to thank the local businesses for their outstanding support with donating prizes and to Team 23 on their outstanding achievement”, said Robert.
