FebFast is an annual campaign that challenges Australians to give up alcohol in February, while raising funds to support organisations that work with children struggling with substance abuse problems.
CFA Chief Officer Russell Rees will join his counterparts, MFB Chief Officer Tony Murphy, Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) Chief Fire Officer Ewan Waller, and Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Keiran Walsh, in taking up the FebFast challenge this year.
Deputy Commissioner Walshe, who participated in the FebFast last year, put out the challenge to other emergency services agencies to participate in this year's campaign. He is also putting up an emergency services sector trophy for FebFast 2009.
To support CFA's Chief Officer efforts to raise funds for this worthy cause, visit Russell's fundraising page on the FebFast website and make a donation online. Supporters can also leave messages of support for Russell on the website.
