Epping CFA volunteer Dawn Ciechomski is the 2009 Whittlesea International Women’s Day Award winner, in recognition of her efforts in promoting community safety in the City of Whittlesea.
This is Dawn’s second major award in seven months after she was honoured as Epping Fire Brigade’s 2008 Volunteer Firefighter of the Year.
“It’s a great feeling to be recognised this way and it’s something I won’t forget in a hurry,” said Dawn, a 13-year veteran of the brigade.
Region 14 General Manager Gill Metz said Dawn was a deserving recipient of the award.
“Dawn is a great person—a real down-to-earth, quiet achiever. She is a respected member of Epping Fire Brigade and respected in the wider community, especially for her work in promoting fire safety and fire awareness.”
The Whittlesea International Women’s Day Award recognises the efforts of women from across the local community, including women from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
