New baby in the brigade

Longwarry brigade welcomed its newest member last month.

Firefighter Sean Scanlon was part of the Strike Team 9581 deployed in the Bunyip Ridge fires and fought in Labertouche on Saturday 7 February.

Sean had extra motivation to battle through the "tough conditions" faced, as Sean and his partner Danni welcomed a new baby girl, Hayley Jayne Scanlon into the world the following week.

"Each year in February I will now cherish the arrival of a baby girl and think of those who lost so much as well as remember those who lost their lives," he said.

"She is so small she fits in the trauma teddy turnout gear! She is going to be my station mascot for the next few weeks."
