2008 Victoria Police and Emergency Services Games

The 2008 Victorian Police and Emergency Services Games were held from 8 March to 10 April encompassing a wide range of individual and team sports. CFA had competitors taking part in 22 of the 42 events making up the Games, with a total of 165 members competing.

Those involved all commented favourably on the experience, noting the friendly competition and opportunities for personal achievement on offer. The Games attracted its highest level of participation since 1997 with 2030 competitors.

Special thanks to those who assisted in organising the teams and supporting the event. And a big thank you to the Games organisation, particularly the volunteer sport co-ordinators and support staff at each of the events.

Of the 165 CFA members competing, we collected 135 gold, 48 silver and 34 bronze medals. In the Inter-Agency Trophy CFA was 19th overall with VicRoads winning for the third year in a row. A full list of the winners is provided below. Congratulations to all CFA members who took part and hopefully we will see you, and many more, next year.

The next Victoria Police & Emergency Services Games will be held from 21-29 March 09.

A reminder that the Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games will be held in Coffs Harbour, from 11 to 18 October 2008. All details are on the website www.apandesgames.com and anyone interested can contact Operations Officer Rohan Luke via Region 14 Headquarters.
