Tourist safety video launched

CFA has produced a 10 minute wildfire safety video aimed at tourists visiting Victoria during the summer fire season. An audio CD is also available for the vision impaired and for use in the car for those that are travelling without access to DVD playing equipment.

The concept was developed because of the exaggerated risk to tourists along the Surf Coast and Otway areas in case of a wildfire. Holiday Wildfire Safety and You has been developed by the Barwon-Corangamite area (Regions 6 & 7) with CFA Public Affairs providing the filming and editing expertise.

DSE's Barwon-Otway Fire District worked in partnership during the development and production of the script and DVD, and funded the manufacturing of the DVD and CDs for the trial phase.

The DVD and CD were supported in principle by Tourism Victoria as a pilot project and could be expanded across the state in coming years.

DVDs will be distributed through select Barwon-Corangamite Area accommodation providers and Visitor Information Centres, while an international audience can view the video on CFA TV, CFA's YouTube channel.
