Twenty new career firefighters were added to CFA’s ranks at a graduation ceremony from the CFA Training College on Friday.
Of the 20 new recruits, 15 have previously been CFA volunteers.
CFA Chief Officer Russell Rees said the recruits had completed 16 weeks of intensive training, equipping them with the skills to be among the best trained firefighters in the world.
“The professionalism of these recruits is evident in their dedication to their studies, high level of proficiency and overall performance during recruit training,” he said.
“The new recruits are aged from 21 to 38 and they all bring with them the enthusiasm and dedication it takes to be a CFA firefighter.”
The new career firefighters will begin working at ten different locations throughout Victoria starting 27 October.
They bring with them a variety of professional backgrounds from IT to sales, trades, defence, other emergency services and the fitness industry.
