CFA was part of the annual Community Safety Day held on Sunday 26 October 2008 at Melbourne’s Docklands.

Sixteen CFA members, including firefighters from Dandenong, Nar Nar Goon and Hampton Park brigades, participated in the event.

CFA vehicles on display during the day were the new operations pilot car, Dandenong's rapid deployment module transporter, Nar Nar Goon's heavy rescue vehicle and Hampton Park's 2.4C tanker. Crews also put on a road accident rescue demonstration, using the jaws-of-life to cut open a vehicle.

At the CFA marquee, members spoke to the community and passed out information about the total fire ban district and the ‘Can I or Can’t I?’ initiative. Kids were kept busy colouring in pictures, which were then pressed into badges for them to wear. Captain Koala was also on hand to entertain the crowd.
