Fundraiser for Canberra Firefighter David Balfour

The Balfour Family Trust has been established in memory of the late David Balfour. A Senior firefighter of the ACT Fire Brigade, David was tragically killed in the line of duty while fighting the Victorian bushfires.

The impact of David's death has been felt across the community, and the fire fighting community has taken up the duty of supporting his wife and family of three.

A charity night – Unite 4 the Firey – has been planed for Friday 17 April 2009. More details can be seen on this flyer.

It is hoped that many people will attend this night in support of David.

In addition to this night, CFA and MFB firefighters, along with some of David’s colleagues from Canberra, will participate in a run that will carry the funds raised on the night to David’s family. Taking just over three days, those involved will run all the way to Canberra. This event will begin on Wednesday 29 April 2009 at the Melbourne Town Hall.

The run passes through much of the CFA area, and will end at midday in Canberra on 2 May 2009.

If you cannot come along to the charity night on April 17 but would like to make a donation to the Balfour Family Trust, the details are:

Account Name: Public Trust Common Fund
BSB: 062920
Account Number: 100 36 944
NOTE: Please use reference "BALFOUR" or 139461 when depositing funds.

If you have any questions, contact Lead Fire Fighter Paul Richie from Windsor Fire Station on 0412 251 264.
